That happens a lot unfortunately. Thank you very much! I would love to know about other Gàidhlig resources, teachers, anything really.

About singing? Yes and no, I definitely wouldn’t say I’m a great (sometimes I wouldn’t even say good) singer but it isn’t caterwauling or anything like that. I wouldn’t sing in front of people even though I love music and songs. What about you?

Yeah pretty much my whole school-life, I started when I was six.

You can email me if you want, my email is, theravenandthewritingdesk@hotmail.com
C.nickhttp://sketchbookofbalderdash.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5599104211853085365.post-27331365981317538762012-10-14T17:10:03.838-07:002012-10-14T17:10:03.838-07:00Wow! It isn't easy. Just curious, do you sing?

And how about homeschooling? Have you always been homeschooled?

Haha! Thanks! It's something I've loved ever since I can remember, so it's kind of funny imagining my life without it.

If you have another online account that we could chat privately, do let me know.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02086940968868374579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5599104211853085365.post-54394680740480139582012-10-08T02:00:14.749-07:002012-10-08T02:00:14.749-07:00Thanks! Well my mother was the first person to introduce me to Gaelic, but it was Irish and she introduced it to me by telling me, “You know the Irish have their own language, it’s called Gaelic.” So, I searched for information on Gaeilge and learned a tiny bit of that and through that I found Gàidhlig. What made me want to learn though, were the stories and the history. I do have Irish and Scottish heritage but I think more than that I wanted a bit of perspective on the stories, songs, and history.

How I learned? First I got a tape on Gàidhlig and then I read pretty much read everything I could find online about the language and in the language. But I think song lyrics and Radio nan Gaidheal and things like that helped me the most as far as understanding what I’m listening to and pronunciation. I don’t live in an area where there are any other speakers, beside the little my family know, so I found that I have to really work at Gàidhlig.

That’s great that you have a passion for dance. I like to dance but I don’t think anyone would call me a dancer. Haha!
C.nickhttp://sketchbookofbalderdash.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5599104211853085365.post-78768500700708530152012-10-07T18:45:15.205-07:002012-10-07T18:45:15.205-07:00Ach tha Gàidhlig math agad. How'd you get interested in Gaelic?

I have always loved dance and I eventually got into Scottish dancing and then serendipitously my mom found a camp in Pennsylvania for Ukrainian dance. I do have Ukrainian heritage, although it's pretty far back. Besides speaking Gaelic dancing is probably my favorite thing to do.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02086940968868374579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5599104211853085365.post-9351000314234931892012-10-04T22:57:08.257-07:002012-10-04T22:57:08.257-07:00Chan eil mòran Gàidhlig agam. There’s not much to tell, I’m just an artist who got hooked on literature, history and culture at an early age. I blame Beowulf.

How about you? What got you into Ukrainian folkdance? Tell me more about yourself!

Oh, and it's just *slightly* awesome that you're homeschooled too. :) Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02086940968868374579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5599104211853085365.post-8744727251122571662012-10-04T00:10:50.799-07:002012-10-04T00:10:50.799-07:00That's very cool about being on BBC Radio nan ...That's very cool about being on BBC Radio nan Gaidheal, and congrats on qualifying!

From a homeschooled person to another,

C.nick
C.nickhttp://sketchbookofbalderdash.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
